Joda/Barbil: Jindal Steel celebrated the 95th birth anniversary of its founder, O.P. Jindal, fondly remembered as Bauji in the Jindal Parivaar, on Thursday.

The day was marked by a series of spiritual, cultural and sporting events across the Barbil Pellet Plant, Tensa, and Kasia Iron Mines (BKT Units).
At the Barbil Pellet Plant, a floral tribute was paid to O. P. Jindal, followed by puja and havan ceremonies at the township temple. The event was attended by Unit Head Purushotham M D, Head HR & ES Bipin Bihari Pradhan, along with other senior executives and their family members. In the evening, the Jindal Nagar Ladies Club hosted a special tribute event in honour of Bauji at the JSPLEX Community Hall.

At the Kasia Iron Mine, employees also observed the day with devotion, organizing puja and havan at the township temple. The event witnessed the participation of Kasia Unit Head and Cluster Head BKT units, Pramod Kumar Patra, along with senior executives, employees, and their family members.
The Tensa Unit also held rituals at its township temple, attended by Unit Head R.S. Raghuwanshi, employees, and their families. The CSR team at Tensa organized the O.P. Jindal Memorial Football Tournament on August 6 and 7, 2025, with participation from several rural teams. In the final match, Team Zero-Point defeated Team Sashyakala 4-2 in a thrilling tiebreaker to claim the championship. Thousands of villagers turned up to witness the exciting event. The closing ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Akshay Pillay, Sub-Collector, Bonai, along with Cluster Head of BKT Units Pramod Kumar Patra and Unit Head R S Raghuwanshi and CSR Head Vargil Lakra.
Writing on the social media platform X, Naveen Jindal, Member of Parliament (Kurukshetra) and Chairman of Jindal Steel, paid tribute to the legendary visionary, stating, “Bauji Shri Om Prakash Jindal Ji was not only a great industrialist but also a true Karmayogi, public servant, social reformer, and a dedicated torchbearer of the vision of a self-reliant India. His thoughts, values, and principles continue to guide us all even today. On his birth anniversary, we offer our heartfelt tributes to him.”
The Jindal Foundation organized various community sports and welfare activities involving villagers and schoolchildren. Debates, quizzes, drawing, and essay writing competitions were held at nearby schools. Jindal School at Soyabali in Barbil also celebrated its Foundation Day with grandeur, featuring cultural performances by students. Eighteen national and international Wushu champions were felicitated by Cluster Head Patra and Barbil Unit Head Purushotham M D.
By the Kasia unit, nutritious food was distributed to hundreds of students at the Adivasi Vikas Samiti. The event was attended by Padma Shri Tulasi Munda, the three Unit Heads, the HR Head, and the CSR Head of the BKT Units of Jindal Steel.
