Bhubaneswar:Odisha Housing & Urban Development Department has decided to celebrate Local Self-Government Day on 31st August in a befitting manner. As part of the celebrations, a week-long series of public outreach programmes will be organised in all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across the State from 25th to 30th August.
According to the advisory issued by the H&UD Department, the events aim to promote citizen participation, environmental awareness, cleanliness, and community bonding.
Major activities planned include:Urban Plantation Drive – “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, Identification of suitable land for plantation of locally available saplings.
Similarly there should be awareness rallies involving students, Self Help Groups, and civil society,Promotion of eco-friendly practices and launch of the “Green Ward” campaign. Appropriate branding and media coverage to inspire community participation, GARIMA IEC Campaigns for sanitation workers’ welfare and dignity of labour , SAHAJOG Camps to strengthen citizen engagement and service delivery.
“Har Ghar Tiranga – Har Ghar Swachhata” initiative to combine patriotism with cleanliness drives,Patha Utsav in early morning hours to encourage community recreation and healthy lifestyles,Sports Day activities with active participation of youth and students.
