Bhubaneswar: Odisha Monday signed an MoU with Air Works for MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) Service Center at Biju Patnaik International Airport at Bhubaneswar.

The MoU was signed on the occasion of Eastern Region Civil Aviation Ministers Conference, held here on Monday.

Addressing the Conference, Odisha chief minister Mohan Majhi said that an international standard Pilot Training Centre will be set up at Birasola in Dhenkanal district. He Odisha’s tribal girls will be given pilot training under Cadet Pilot Programme. He said under State government’s initiative B-MAAN (Building & Management of Aviation Assets & Network) cadet pilot training would be started soon. According to him, facilities would be created for flight training, UAV training and airsports.

The CM said Odisha’s airports have been connected with 15 new destinations in last 14 months.

Majhi said all the 14 unused airstrips would be developed into airports. He said 15 helipads would be developed in districts having no airstrips.

Union Civil Aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu commiited that all support will be given to Odisha for development of civil aviation sector.

The Conference was also addressed by union minister of State for civil aviation Muralidhar Mohal, Odisha commerce & transport minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, Chhattisgarh finance minister Om Prakash Choudhry, Union Civil Aviation secretary Sameer Sinha, and Odisha commerce & transport principal secretary Ms. Usha Padhi.
