Jharsuguda: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, collaborated with the Jharsuguda district administration organised a 10- day Filaria Awareness health campaign, which reached out to nearly 2.7 lakh people acrossthe district. The company’s efforts played a key role in mobilizing community participation and public health awareness towards combating the incidence of filaria in the region.
A wide range of activities were conducted , including awareness camps at key locations within the district and the deployment of an Awareness Ratha (chariot) that disseminated educational information on filaria. Covering all five blocks of the district, the Ratha delivered key health messages through public announcement systems and printed materials.
The initiative saw active participation from Vedanta employees, community members, local leaders, and health workers, making it a timely and impactful step towards strengthening community health.
The campaign was inaugurated at the Reserve Police Ground, Jharsuguda, in the presence of Brajabandhu Bhoi (Additional District Magistrate – General), Dr. L.K. Karmi (Additional District Medical & Public Health Officer In-Charge), and Dr. Radha Raman Bhirtia (Additional District Public Health Officer).
