Bhubaneswar : The 84th Indian Road Congress (IRC) was inaugurated by Odisha chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Road Transport and National Highway minister Nitin Gadkari, here on Friday.

The Union minister Gadkari announced Rs 1000 crore road projects for Odisha on this occassion.

Gadkari said India is going to be number one in road network in the world. According to him, provision of Rs 2.87 lakh crore has been made for laying quality roads in the country.

Odisha CM said the State is proposing to lay 75,000 km of roads in five years.

Odisha works minister Pruthiviraj Harichandan, IRC president Professor Manoj Parida, general secretary Rahul Gupta, Odisha works principal secretary Sanjay Singh also addressed the inaugural session.
