Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi Friday inaugurated the Odisha Watermanship & Lifeguard Institute, established at a cost of Rs12 crore at Ramachandi on Puri sea coast.
The CM also laid the foundation stone for the Scuba Diving Complex.
The CM said the Institute would emerge as a dedicated national and international institution in the field of natutal disaster management. He said this institute would enhance the skill of manpower engaged in fire fighting and emergency services.
On this occassion, an MoU was signed between the Odisha Tourism Department, Odisha Firemen & Emergency Services. The MoU is aimed at promoting water sports in colaboration with NIWS of Goa.
Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Prabhati Parida, Bramhagiri BJPMLA Ms. Upasana Mohapatra, Pipili MLA Ashrit Patnaik, Puri MLA Sunil Mohanty, Satyabadi MLA Om Prakash Mishra, Kakatpur MLA Tushar Behera, Jagatsingpur MP Bibhu Prasad Tarai, Tourism secretary Dr. Balwant Singh, Police DIG Dr. Uma Shankar Dash were present.
Odisha Fire & Emergency Service Director General Dr. Sudhansu Sarangi gave the welcome address while the CMD of Odisha Police Housing Corporation Soumendra Priyadarshi gave the vote of thanks.
