Bhubaneswar: Odisha goverenment has sent notices show cause notice to lakhs of farmers those were trying to deceive the government.

The State government has found that lakhs of farmers have registered their names to participate in the ongoing Kharif season paddy procurement claiming falsely that they have grown paddy in non-cultivated paddy plots.

A government press release said as many as 19 lakh plots have been identified as non-paddy cultivated plots out of the 24,94,437 plots physical surveyed out of 26,14,137 identified through Satellite Imagery. Only 5,46,591 plots were found genuine after the field survey carried out through District Registrar of Cooperative Society (DRCS) official.

The State government has issued show cause notice to the owners of the 19 lakh plots through the DRCS.

“The DRCS of all the districts have been instructed to issue show-cause notices to farmers who have erroneously registered non-cultivated land as paddy cultivated land under Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2025–26.

The BJP government in Odisha fulfillinis its election promises giving a bonus of Rs 800 on a quintal of paddy procured since last Kharif season. Some unscrupulous farmers are trying to corner this bonus money by showing falsely that the paddy has been grown in land that are not suitable for paddy cultivation.
