’Berhampur: TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) CEO Amit Kumar Garg inaugurated a state-of-the-art Hands-On Technical Training Centre (HoTT) at Jeypore in Koraput district.

The HoTT Centre, established under the aegis of the TPSODL Safety and Skill Development Institute (TSSDI), marks a significant milestone in the company’s “Mission Zero Harm” initiative. The centre reflects TPSODL’s focused approach to build a highly skilled, safety-conscious and future-ready workforce across its operational areas.

Strategically designed for employees and Business Associates, the centre delivers a structured blend of classroom learning and practical exposure. The training model emphasizes real-time simulation of field conditions and hands-on technical practice.

At the core of the facility is a modern practice yard equipped with replicas of Low Tension (LT) and High Tension (HT) networks. This simulated infrastructure enables linemen and technical staff to gain direct experience in handling equipment and executing operational tasks in a safe and controlled environment before field deployment.

The centre offers comprehensive modules covering RMU operations, auto-recloser handling, sectionalizer operations, distribution transformer maintenance, proper earthing techniques and insulation resistance testing. In addition, the facility houses a dedicated TSSDI classroom, a fully equipped conference hall, an Electrical Equipment Demonstration Gallery, and a well-developed practice yard that supports immersive technical learning.

Addressing the gathering, Amit Kumar Garg said, “Safety and skill excellence remain central to our operations at TPSODL. The Jeypore HoTT Centre represents a strategic investment in our workforce. Structured practical exposure in a simulated environment enhances technical capability and strengthens our zero-harm commitment. Our objective is clear — build confident, competent teams that deliver reliable power with the highest safety standards.”

With the commissioning of the Jeypore facility, TPSODL now operates 16 TSSDI centres and three advanced HoTT centres across its license area. The earlier HoTT centres at Berhampur and Phulbani have strengthened workforce capability in their respective regions.
