Bhubaneswar : Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi Saturday directed the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) to spread business across the country.

Addressing the 71st Foundation Day of OMC, the CM said the State PSU has grown from a meagre rupees one crore business in 1960s has become a Rs 25,000 crore turn over company in 2025-26. OMC has scored an all time record by raising He said it is time now OMC should spread its mining business to other parts of the country.

Demand for minerals like iron ore, bauxite, chromite is increasing rapidly in international markets, and since OMC has a huge reserve of these raw materials, it should also venture into processing business along with its core activities, said Majhi.

The CM informed that a pilot plant by OMC has successfully extracted platinum group of metal from its Bangur chromite mines in Keonjhar district. He said open a new opportunity for clean energy, electronics & EV vehicles manufacturing in Odisha.

Majhi flagged of eight modern Basic Life Support Ambulances for mines area people, opened a newly built Odisha Mining Model School at Kaliapani on this occassion.

Development Commissioner D. K. Singh, OMC Chairman Girish S. N and OMC MD Sudhansu Mohan Samal were present.
