Jharsuguda:Vedanta Aluminium signed an MoU with Jharsuguda district administration to launch Suryodhyam, a comprehensive rural development initiative aimed at transforming seven villages in the district into self-sustaining,community-centric ecosystems. The initiative is expected to benefit over 8,000 community members through focused interventions spanning infrastructure development, healthcare, education, livelihoods, and local governance.
As part of the Suryodhyam, improving roads, drainage systems, street lighting, Primary Health Centers, anganwadis, schools, water bodies,and irrigation infrastructure would be taken up.
Uniquely, each of the seven villages will be ‘adopted’ by senior leaders from Vedanta Aluminium, Jharsuguda, who will be responsible for providing strategic oversight and active engagement to supportthe successful implementation.
Speaking on the occasion, C. Chandru, CEO – Vedanta Aluminium, Jharsuguda, said, “Through Suryodhyam, we aim to build community ownership of progress and create scalable models of village development that deliver lasting value for Jharsuguda district, while also supporting its long-term growth.”
Kunal Motiram Chavan, Jharsuguda District Collector, said, “Vedanta’s Suryodhyam initiative will complement our ongoing efforts to strengthen rural infrastructure, improve access to essential services, and enhance the quality of life in villages. We see this as an opportunity for enabling joint public-private efforts to drive coordinated, outcome-oriented development and achieve inclusive rural transformation.”
