Bhubaneswar: The Odisha cabinet headed by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Tuesday, approved 13 key proposals across 7 Departments.

The decisions include major investments in irrigation, rural roads, bridges and water conservation, along with key reforms in agriculture, fisheries, revenue administration and public service delivery.

Together, these initiatives will strengthen rural infrastructure, improve connectivity, empower our farmers and reinforce our commitment to building a Samruddha Odisha.

KEY DECISIONS:

Parbati Giri Mega Lift Irrigation SchemeApproved ₹121.81 crore for three lift irrigation projects in Bolangir, creating irrigation potential over 4,330 hectares and benefiting farmers in 25 villages.

New Agricultural Marketing LawApproved repeal of the Odisha Agricultural Produce Markets Act, 1956 and introduction of a new farmer-centric agricultural marketing law to promote competition, private investment and better market access.

State Agriculture Policy (MKUY) ExtendedApproved continuation of the State Agriculture Policy subsidy scheme for five years with an outlay of ₹2,496.40 crore, supporting around 8,500 agri-enterprises across Odisha.

Odisha Fisheries Service Rules, 2026Approved new recruitment and service rules for the Odisha Fisheries Service, strengthening cadre management, career progression and public service delivery.

Mukhya Mantri Sadak Yojana (MMSY)Approved ₹4,000 crore for construction of over 4,600 km of new rural roads and completion of ongoing projects to strengthen all-weather connectivity.

MMSY – Connecting Missing Road LinksApproved ₹1,917 crore under MMS¥ to build around 3,850 km of roads, improving connectivity across inter-block, inter-district and border areas.

MMSY – Improvement of Existing Rural RoadsApproved ₹5,750 crore to upgrade nearly 17,500 km of existing rural roads, improving access to essential services and markets.

MMSY – Connecting Unconnected Villages in Difficult AreasApproved ₹1,300 crore to connect remote villages in LWE-affected, hilly and inaccessible areas through around 1,150 km of new roads and completion of ongoing connectivity projects.

Transferred Roads Improvement Programme (TRIP)Approved ₹6,700 crore to upgrade around 25,500 km of transferred roads, improving connectivity to schools, hospitals, markets and tourist destinations.

Bridge-cum-Weir SchemeApproved ₹600 crore for 508 new Bridge-cum-Weir projects and completion of 162 ongoing works, enhancing irrigation, water conservation and rural water supply.

Setu Bandhan Yojana ExtendedApproved extension of Setu Bandhan Yojana till 2030-31 with an outlay of ₹11,800 crore for – 1,750 new bridges and completion of 1,417 ongoing bridges.

Revenue Service Cadre ReformsApproved amendments to the Odisha District Revenue Service Rules, introducing new promotion ⁃ levels to ensure faster career progression and strengthen grassroots revenue administration.

Consumer Commission Stenographers’ Service Rules, 2026Approved new service rules for stenographers in the State and District Consumer Commissions, ensuring transparent recruitment, transfers and career progression.
