Bhubaneswar : The Sixth Akhya Novel Award was conferred on eminent writer Dr. Lalatendu Sahoo for his debut novel ‘Ghatamuhan Danga’, here on Saturday.

Prativa Ray Foundation and Adyasha Publications present the award along with a cash prize of rupees one lakh to best novel written by young writer below the age of fifty in memory of late Akhya Rai.

Padmabhusn and Gyanapith Award winner Odia author presided the award giving ceremony where in well-known Lyricist and short story writer Devdas Chotray was the chief guest and Dr. Gaurahari Das was chief speaker. Dr. Basant Kumar Panda gave the welcome address and Dr. Adyasha Das introduced the guests. Trustee Lalit Das gave the vote of thanks.

Prasant Kumar Acharya was conferred the Best Reader Award on this occasion.
