Kolkata: West Bengal’s ruling party Trinamool Congress (TMC) Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien will appear before the CBI on August 7 in connection with Saradha chit fund scam.
The CBI has summoned him along with Subrata Baisakhai to question on financial transaction betwen TMC’s official newspaper ‘Jago Bangla’ and the chit fund company. O’Brien is the publisher of the newspaper while Subrata Baisakhi is the editor.
O’Brien has tweeted that the CBI notice was served at 2 p.m. on Friday, at almost the same time when his party brought up the motion to oppose the amendments to the RTI Act in the Rajya Sabha.
The CBI, which is probing the multi-crore chit fund case under the direction of the Supreme Court.
