New Delhi: The union steel minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, has emphasised on use of Industrial Revolution 4.0 technology in enhancing quality steel production in the country.
Pradhan, who chaired a review meeting of the steel ministry on Wednesday, said that the IR 4.0 technology is now in mid-way. By using this technology and new ideas, India could be a world leader in steel making, he added.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of steel ministry, members of joint plant committee on steel, and executives of CRISIL.
Stating that the National Steel Policy 2017 has put the per capita steel use in India is 61 kg as against 108 in the world, he said that the steel consumption in the country would increase fueling demand for the commodity. He suggested that the efforts should now be on increasing steel production to meet the domestic demand and reduce the imports to the country.
