Bhubaneswar: Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik Wednesday launched the Rs 5.21 crore Multi- dimensional Pilot Project (MPP) in Nabarangpur district. The Project aimed at providing high R & D inputs to the farmers with a view to increase their income.
Country’s 12 leading agriculture research and development (R & D) institutions functioning under CSIR, ICAR, ICMR and Department of Biotechnology and 15 departments of the State government are involved in this Project. The State government has earmarked Rs 5.21 crore for the project implementation in Budget 2019-20.
Patnaik, who launched the Project through video conferencing from Lok Seva Bhawan, here, said that the State government is making all out endeavour to enhance the income of the farmers in the State. He said that the Project is aimed at increase the farmers income in the district through scented oil production besides horticulture, fisheries, poultry and animal husbandry.
State agriculture minister Arun Sahu, Nabarangpur MP Ramesh Majhi, chief secretary Asit Tripathy, development commissioner Suresh Mohapatra, principal commissioner Sourav Garg and secretaries of other related departments were present in the launching ceremony.
