Bhubaneswar: Seven JUKI’s industrial sewing machines were handed over to the ITI Bhubaneswar by NTPC Ladies Club’s Vasudha Mahila Mandal president Monika Kishore This would benefit nearly 232 girl students of the institute.
The president of Tanvi Sangam of Talcher Thermal, Vani Babu, Avilasha Club of Darlipalli president Bela Satya and ITI Bhubaneswar principal Jeetmitra Satapathy were present on the occasion.
Monika Kishore said that CSR has been an integral part of NTPC’s business of power generation. She further said that NTPC firmly believe that communities located in the vicinity of its projects are important partners/stakeholders. As good neighbors, NTPC builds strong partnerships with them through a slew of well-conceived community development intervention programmes, she added.
Kishore said that in tandem with the CSR Program NTPC is now focusing upon empowering girl students and to realize this dream, NTPC has started an initiative named GEM (Girl Empowerment Mission) under which girl students from peripheral schools are provided comprehensive all round development like academics, martial arts, Yoga for over a period of a month. In NTPC’s ER-II region currently this mission is underway at Talcher Thermal And Talcher Kaniha.
Vasudha Mahila Mandal of Bhubaneswar have always been actively playing a key role in undertaking various welfare activities like skill development for slum women, providing computer training to underprivileged girl students, providing sports equipment to physically handicapped students of Open Learning Institute at Chandrashekarpur. The club also undertakes various welfare measures at orphanages and other institutions like distribution of school bags, TV, Earphones, Sweaters, Sewing Machines, Sports Equipments.
