Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has roped in the service of international famed consultant Price Water & Cooper (PwC) to integrate the State’s farm produce with the national market.
The State food and cooperation minister, Ranendra Pratap Swain, Monday said that the PwC has been engaged to give technological advise to the cooperation department so as to make the Odisha State Agriculture Marketing Board and Regulated Marketing Committees more efficient. By now 10 of the 66 Marketing Committees have been made e-NAM enabled platform. Another 31 Committees will be linked to the e-NAM platform soon.
Swain said when all these Marketing Committees would become e-NAM enabled, Odisha’s farm produce will be sold in the national market and the farmers would be get the best price for their produce.
The minister, while presiding over the Odisha State Agricutlure Marketing Board, here on Monday, said to make farmers’ income double there is a need to get him the best price for his produce in the country. He said that the 5T mantra of chief minister Naveen Patnaik will be implemented in the Board functioning so as to make it more vibrant and people oriented.
The food and cooperation secretary, Veer Vikram Yadav, said that Marketing Committees should get their annual budgets approved by the Board by due dates.
The Board meeting also discussed about the delimitation of the Marketing Committees.
Board adviser Rama Chandra Panda and member secretary M Muthukumar were present.
