Bhubaneswar: The capital expenditure provision in the Odisha budget 2019-20 has crossed 5% of the State GSDP as the Assembly Monday accorded its approval to the Rs 8, 126 crore supplementary budget for the fiscal.
The State finance minister, Niranjan Pujari, while replying to the demand discussion on the supplementary budget Monday said that out of the Rs 8126 crore, a provision of Rs 3,300 crore has been made for capital expenditure. Stating that the supplementary budget is 5.8% of the original budget, he said that Rs 7344 crore or 92% of the budget has been provided for programme expenditure. He said provisions have been made for successful implementation of 5T and Mo Sarkar initiatives of the government. Besides, provisions have been made for Puri Heritage City development, farmers welfare, food security, social security, drinking water supply, education, health, infrastructure, rural development and social sector, he added.
Out of the Rs 7344 crore programme expenditure, Rs 2623 crore has been earmarked for rural development and infrastructure. Rupees 730 each has been provided for Puri Heritage City development(ABHADA) and development of roads in the State. Under Basudha Yojana and National Rural Drinking Water Project (NRDWP) Rs 460 has been provided for drinking water supply, and under PMAY and Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana Rs 252 crore has been given for housing Provisions of Rs 201 crore for National Rural Livelihood Programme and Rs 851 crore for power sector.
