Bhubaneswar: NTPC Ltd. signed an agreement with Common Service Centre (CSC) e-Governance Services India to support Stree Swabhiman Initiative in Odisha to set up 50 Mini Sanitary Pad manufacturing units in 18 districts of Odisha. NTPC will provide financial assistance Rs 147 lakhs for setting up of these units as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The pads, which will come in packets with 8 pads will be priced at Rs 40.
The MOU was signed in the presence of NTPC regional head HR Milan Kumar, deputy general manager HR Abhaya Kumar Rout and State head CSR SPV Swopnaprabha Singh.
Each MMU will have the capacity to produce 1200-2000 pads per day. The units will have a sterilisation room to ensure sterilisation of the pads before being packed. Each unit will engage 8 to 10 women for production of pad.
According to NTPC Easter region AGM-PR Manjul Tewari, the CSC will create awareness among the rural women and girls for use of napkin pads. The CSC support the units for six months after that it would become self sufficient.
