Cuttack:They served the Amphan affected people in West Bengal and now they are serving the Covid-19 patients of Odisha.
While serving the Amphan hit people of Kolkata and Howrah in West Bengal the two Odisha Fire Service personnel, FM-1678, Santosh Kumar Samal and Dr.Hav., Tapas Kumar Rout inflicted by Corona virus. Now, after recuperating from the deadly virus the two volunteered to donate plasma to save the life of Covid patient back in Odisha.
Samal and Rout Friday donated their plasma at SCB MCH, Cuttack. They are from among the ten Fire Services personnel who volunteered to donate plasma in the first phase.
It may be mentioned here that 372 Fire Services personnel were deputed to Kolkata and Howrah to assist West Bengal Government in restoration work, post extremely severe cyclonic storm, Amphan. On return, 192 of them were infected with Covid but now are on active duty after recovery.
Following the appeal of chief minister Naveen Patnaik to the Covid recovered persons to donate plasma to treat the critical patients, ten Fire Services personnel who recovered from Covid after Amphan duty came forward to donate plasma, true to the spirit of the organisation, “We Serve to Save”. More Fire Service personel have volunteered to donate plasma in the coming weeks.
Fire Services DGP Satyajit Mohanty felicitated FM-1678, Santosh Kumar Samal and Tapas Kumar Rout at the Fire Service Hdqrs, Cuttack with letters of appreciation, reward of Rs 2500 and Good Service Mark.
