Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Development Authority, in partnership with the land owners, has initiated Odisha’s first ever Town planning scheme. This is a fair, transparent and practical way of expanding the cities in a planned manner.
The Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnik Thursday said, “This will herald a new era of planned development in the State. I hope that we implement this scheme in a time bound manner and create a model for the rest of our cities to emulate.”
“Cities are the growth engines of our economy. We have to plan our cities in a sustainable manner and enable an organic growth while ensuring safety nets for the vulnerable sections.”
“Community partnership and citizen involvement are central to city development. My government gives high priority to such partnership models with active involvement of citizens. We should become a role model in urban development,” said Patnaik.
Patnaik distributed land pattas to the participating citizens in the scheme on this occasion. Urban minister Pratap Jena and BDA vice chairman Prem Chandra Choudhry briefed about the scheme stating this is for the first time in the country land pattas are given to the participating citizens.
Chief secretary Asit Tripathy, development commissioner Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, urban principal secretary G Mathivathan, finance principal secretary Ashok Meena, revenue principal secretary Bishnupada Sethy and works secretary Kishan Kumar were present.
CM’s secretary (5T) VK Pandian conducted the programme.
