Bhubaneswar: All Odisha Urdu-Persian Teachers’ Assocaition has threaten to launch agitation in support of its three-point charter of demand.
At a state-level workshop organised by the Association here at the Jama Masjid on Sunday, adviser Seikh Abdul Wali and former office bearer of Urdu education department Seikh Manwar Ahmed urged the member to prepare for a long struggle to achieve the demands.
The Association is demanding that the State Madrasa Board qualified Maulabi and Fazils teaching in minor schools and high schools be recognized by the government. As there is no provision in the state to impart BEd education to the Alim and Fazils, the 2011 notification of the government with regard to qualification be withdrawn. In fact, the Association has got a interim stay on the implementation of the notification.
The Association has also demanded that the state government should move to the Centre for re-introduction of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme, closed in 2017, for appointment of Urdu teachers in the state. In 2010, only 19 teachers were appointed in Balasore district under scheme.
It also demanded that the government should withdraw its order directing the Urdu CT teachers, who are now imparting teaching in primary schools, to teach in Middle English Schools for students of class VI,VII and VIII. The Urdu CT teachers have no qualification for such job. Moreover, as the MIL students in ME Schools are taught Persian along with Urdu, the CT teachers have no qualification for such job, pointed out the Assocaition. Currently, the Maulabi are teaching in the ME Schools.
Seikh Abdul Wali said that the Association would launch an agitation to achieve the demands. He also said that the legal recourse would also be explored to give justice to the Urdu education in the state.
