Bhubaneswar: India Steel Association (ISA) seemingly has high expectation from the new Mohan Majhi-led BJP government in Odisha.
ISA is looking for infrastructure development and sustainable projects like slurry pipelines for further growth of steel industry in the State.
A delegation of ISA led by president Naveen Jindal recently met the chief minister Mohan Majhi and discussed about growth potential of State in steel sector. The delegation which included all major steel makers in Odisha expressed optimism about the future of steel industry under the new BJP government.

The chairman of Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) Naveen Jindal, who is also a BJP Lok Sabha MP, discussed Odisha’s significant role in the Indian steel industry due to its rich mineral resources and strategic geographical location.
He emphasised the importance of green energy and sustainable practices in the steel industry.
The delegation also discussed potential opportunities for further expansion of the steel industry and manufacturing of special grade steel and green steel, which will also contribute to the state’s economic development.
JSP is proposing to have the world’s largest steel plant at Angul in Odisha in next six years. The steel making capacity of its Angul plant is going to be 12 mtpa by next year. The company is working on a ramp up project to double its capacty from the present 6mtpa.
Meanwhile, Tata Steel CEO & MD TV Narendran and AM/NS Steel India CEO Dillip Oommen had met the CM and discussed about their companies various projects and their status.
Tata Steel is ramping up its Kalingnagar Steel Plant capacity fron 3mtpa to 8mtpa. The expansion project is expected to be completed by this year end. The company is also planning to invest in the acquired Bhusan Steel Plant and the recently taken over Nilachal Ispat Nigam. Tata has businness interest in iron ore and chrome ore mining in the State.
SM/NS is proposing to set up a coastal port-based mega steel plant in Mahakalpada of Odisha’s Kendrapada district. The JVC plans a 7 mtpa plant to start with an investment of Rs 38,000 crore.
