Bhubaneswsar : Odisha government is going to do away with the State laws that have become redundant. The government is soon going to set up a Law Revision Commission to recomment the government.

The State law minister, Pruthiviraj Harichandan, Wednesday said, “Some of the laws have become outdated and useless. The government wanted to do away with those laws.” He said the government is going to appoint a Law Revision Commission to recommend the governmet in this matter.

The law minister was speaking at a seminar organised by Odisha Soochana Adhikar Avijan (OSAA) to commomorate the 19th foundation day of Right to Information Act, 2005.

Harichandan assured that vacant posts of chief information commission and other member commission would be filled up soon. He said the RTI Act would be made more people’s friendly.

OSAA convenor Pradip Pradhan presided over the seminar where senior journalists Rabi Das, Navin Das, Sanjay Jena, BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma, retired bureaucrat Azad Hind Panigrahi, Srikanta Pakala, advocate Niranjan Mohanty, Dr. JB Sarangi and former Odisha Information Commissioner Dilip Kumar Bisoi spoke about the role of RTI in protecting the democratic institutions.
