Bhubaneswar: Fisheries & Livestock Ferstival 2024 expects over four lakh footfalls. The Festival, which is being held atdistrict level, is being organised in various districts between November 8 and December 23, this year.
Festivals have already organised in Angul and Gajapati districts. Mayurbhanj, Rayagada and Boudh districts will have it on November 19 and 20, while districts like Jajpur, Khordha, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Puri, Bargarh, Jagatsinghgpur, Jharsuguda, Bhadrak, Nawarangpur & Kandhamal will have their events during November and rest other districts in the month of December.
With its quintessential structure involving live demonstration and stall exhibition creating a learning atmosphere for farmers, the Festval is now being treated as a platform for dissemination of scientific farming practices in fisheries and animal husbandry. Adding thrust to adoption of technology for better gain from livestock rearing & pisciculture, farmers-scientists interaction programmes formed an integral part of Festival where farmers are encouraged to ask questions and get firsthand advice from experts.
Odisha fisheries & animal resources development (F & ARD )minister Gokulanand Mallick said that this mela is a platform to propel dairying, animal husbandry & fisheries to a new high in the state. Farmers will get their share of learning and utilise it in their fields for better productivity. He urged the farmers to avail the benefits of various government schemes in Fisheries & ARD sector for optimum benefit.
Principal secretary F&ARD Suresh Kumar Vashishth said the Festivals is expected to attract more than four lakh visitors at different districts in the State.
