Bhubaneswar: The Kalinga Nippon Buddha Sangha Sunday celebrated the 45th foundation day of Dhauli Peace Pagoda here in the presence of Buddhist monks and dignitaries from various countries.
Speaking on this occasion the BJD MP from Bhubaneswar Prasanna Patasani said development of Dhauli, a major tourist destination and one of the historical places where Emperor Asoka took the path of non-violence preached by Lord Budhha after the Kalinga world war, is always been in priority of the state government. He said the state government has been giving considerable importance for the development of Buddhist destinations in Odisha.
A book entitled “Dhauli Past and Present” written Bimalendu Mohanty was released by the dignitaries on this occasion.
The function was attended by a host of monks from Japan, America, England, Thailand and Nepal.
Founder of International Centre for Buddhist Studies & Research Achyuta Samanta, chief monk of Rajgir Rev T Okonogi, chief monk of Wardha Rev M Asai, and chief monk of Dhauli K Yoda also graced the occasion.
