Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has identified 45 places along various rivers of the State to develop as Pumped Storage Projects (PSP). Out of these, ten projects will be develoed by various PSUs, while the remaing places will be offered to private developers. These besides, some other places have been selected by private investors.
The development work of these will be awarded on first come first serve basis to the companies that apply first, said the Deputy Chief Minister holding energy, Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo, here on Monday.
Telangana’s Sangamam Power Project Company signed an MoU with the Odisha government for setting up of 1000 MW Pumped Storage Project of 1000 MW on Monday in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Singhdeo Development Commissioner Ms. Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary, Energy Department Vishal Kumar Dev, Managing Director, IDCO Bhupendra Singh Poonia, Director, Sangamam Power Shri Deepak Mathur, Bhaskar Rao.
Sangamam Power Project Company has prepared a detailed project report for setting up PSP at Sunki in Koraput district. This project holds a capacity of generating 1000 MW of electricity for 6 hours a day in peak hours with the use of reverse turbine. The company authorities have requested Deputy Chief Minister Shri Singhdeo and other officials to provide single window clearance and other incentives from the Odisha government for setting up of the project.
