Mumbai: The chairman of Vedanta Ltd. Anil Agarwal has twiteeed under the heading “Quest for Rare Earths: Deciding War or Peace in the Modern World ” that India should focus on development of rare earth minirals.

“Rare earth are a set of 17 minerals without which you would not have smartphones, smart TV or practically any cutting-edge technology.”

“At present, China controls 70% of the world’s rare earth supply. That iS why US President Trump is making the mineral deal with Ukraine central to his strategy to end the war with Russia. Congo’s President is also offering America access to minerals in return for security.”
“India actually has the 5th largest reserves of rare earths in the world,” he tweeted lamenting, “But we are producing small quantities.”
Agarwal stressed, ” It can give us a lot of leverage in the world. Let us focus on this one thing.”
