Bhubaneswar: A delegation of Indian Steel Association (ISA) led by its president Naveen Jindal called on the Odisha chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday and discussed about the various issues of the steel sector.
The ISA team urged the CM for facilitation of iron ore supply to the industries so that there would be higher production of steel in the State.
The CM assured the delegates that the Odisha based steel industries would supplied with the raw materials and other facilities.
He said Odisha is aspiring to be Vikasit Odisha by 2036 and it considers mines and steel sectors would have a major role in this endeavour.
The ISA appraised the CM that the country which is now producing 165 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) is aiming for 500 mtpa by 2047.
The meeting also discussed about auction of mines and operational of auctioned mines. This fiscal 30 mines would be put on auction. Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Steel & Mines Additional Chief Secretary Surendra Kumar, and Industries Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma were present.
