Bhubaneswar : Central sector Aluminum behemoth National Aluminum Company Ltd. (Nalco) lines up expansion projects to become Rs. 25,000 crore company in next five years. Nalco now is a Rs. 17,000 crore company.
The Nalco CMD, Brijendra Pratap Singh, Tuesday said Nalco is going to add 1million tonnes capacity to its Damanjodi refinery by next year. He said, the capacity of Angul smelter would be ramp up to add 5 lakh tonnes of metal in next five years. Along with it, the Captive Power Plant generation would be enhanced by 1000 MW by that time.
The Nalco CMD said that the technology supplier would be finalised by next year and we would go to the Board for approval with the DPR by the end of next year.
Singh said while the smelter expansion project entail a cost of Rs 17,000 to Rs 20,000 crore, the power plant would cost Rs 10,000 to Rs 11,000 crore.
