Bhubaneswar : Reforms in Indieect Taxes in Odisha: From Sales Tax to VAT and GST, a book by Padeep Kumar Biswal and Dr. Satya Priya Rath, was released by former Finance Minister Prafulla Ghadei, here on Sunday.
The book release event was graced by former Finance Secretary Rabi Narayan Senapati, former Information Commissioner Dilip Kumar Bisoi and the publisher of the book Paresh Patnaik.
The book, published by Salandi Books, is first of its kind in the sense that it digs into the history of indirect tax in Odisha. The book is a scholarly record as it contains the research and analysis outcome the two authors who are having first hand access to official dossires as as old as pre independence period.
Author Pradeep Biswal is a retired IAS officer who had handled Odisha finance for several years being posted as a key officer in State Finance Department. Dr. Satya Priya Rath is a serving IAS officer who is now handling State Budget being the Director (Budget) in Finanace Department.
Speaking on the occasion, Ghadei said the book would be useful for scholars, students of finances besides the practioners of taxes. He urged the author duo to go for a bigger edition of the with additional and updated informations.
Chief speaker Senapati and guest of honour Bisoi praised the authors for their work. They said it would be a reference material for many in coming days.
Bhubaneswar CTO Ms. Lopamudra Dash took the audience through the contents of the book.
