Bhubaneswar: Annoucing a slew of welfare schemes for the labourers working in unorganised sector, the Odisha chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, Sunday said that all the unorganised sector workers would be covered under social security schemes by the end of this financial year.
“All unorganised workers, starting from domestic helpers, transport workers, vendors and all labourers will be provided with identity cards to cover them under the social security scheme.” said Patnaik. According to him all women labourers will be covered under a special social security scheme.”
He, while addressing the first convention of Biju Shramik Samukhya, here on Sunday, said pucca houses, rented accommodations would be provided to the workers soon.
“Labourers will be provided with pucca houses and rented accommodations in their place of work in the country”, said Patnaik.
The women and child development minister Prafulla Samal said, “The Biju Shramik Samukhya has been formed with an aim to serve the labourers in the unorganised sectors by extending all welfare schemes and social security schem to them.”
The Biju Shramik Samukhya general sectary Subash Singh said, “The unorganised sector will get accidental insurance, health insurance and life insurance of Rs 3 lakh and in case of disability they will be provided with Rs 1.5 lakh assistance. These schemes will come into force within two to three months.”
The Biju Shramik Samukhya convention was attended by activists from 30 districts of Odisha.
