Bhubaneswar : The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar has achieved a historic milestone by successfully completing 100 advanced robotic-assisted surgeries.

This landmark achievement establishes AIIMS Bhubaneswar as the first government-funded healthcare institution in Odisha to operate a fully functional, multi-disciplinary robotic surgical programme, providing high-end surgical care to underprivileged and middle-income patients at a fraction of private sector costs.
The robotic surgery programme at AIIMS Bhubaneswar has successfully tackled highly challenging cases across five major departments including General Surgery, Surgical Gastroenterology, Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Specialized interventions like Robotic Bariatric Surgery and intricate Pediatric Surgery cases.
The completion of 100 robotic surgeries is a testament to AIIMS Bhubaneswar’s commitment to bringing the future of healthcare to the doorstep of Odisha, said Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
A special ceremony was organised to mark the occasion, graced by DEAN(Academic) Dr. Dillip Kumar Parida, Medical Superintendent Dr. Prabhas Ranjan Tripathy, Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohanty, OT Committee Chairman and Head of Pediatric Surgery, Dr. Prasant Nayak, and Nodal Officer of the Robotic Surgery Program and Head of Urology, DDA Lt. Col. Abhijit Sarkar.
