Burla :TP Western Odisha Distribution Ltd. (TPWODL) has commenced the first batch of the ‘Solar Didi’ programme under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY) at the Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI), Gosala, Sambalpur. The initiative will equip women with solar energy skills and create a network of grassroots ambassadors to accelerate rooftop solar adoption across Sambalpur city.
The inaugural batch comprises 24 women representatives from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) of Sambalpur city, identified by the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) under DAY-NULM. The participants are undergoing hands-on training on rooftop solar systems, covering installation, operation and maintenance, consumer awareness, and community mobilisation for rooftop solar adoption. After completing the 9-day training, the Solar Didis will conduct door-to-door awareness campaigns across all 41 wards of Sambalpur city.
