Bhubaneswar : Odisha goverenment is soon going to enhance the retirement age of judical officers to 62. The present superannuation age of Odisha judicial officers is 60.
The Supreme Court has asked the State government to consider the proposal to hike the retirement age so that the experienced judicial talent could be levearaged.
The State government is to reply to the apex court on this matter by this month end.
If government agreed to the apex court’s proposal, judicial officers those have retired after March 31, 2026 would get an option to return to the service.
Meanwhile, 7 states have agreed to enhance the retirement age of judical officers to 62.
A three-member bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kanata, Justice Joymalaya Bagchi and Justice Vipul M. Pancholi have passed an order in this regard in the All India Judges Association vs. Union of India case.
