Bhubaneswar: Odia IAS officer of Karnataka cadre Subhash Chandra Khuntia is the new chairman of Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority of India (IRDA). He has succeeded TS Vijayan who has completed his tenure as IRDAI chairman on February 21, 2018.
The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved Khuntia’s appointment as IRDA chairman.
Khuntia, a 1981 batch IAS officier and former chief secretary of Karnataka, will be holding the coveted IRDA chief posts for three years.
Born on November 21, 1957 in Jagatsinghpur district, Khuntia was earlier appointed as the Chief Secretary of Karnataka in September, 2016. He has also served as special secretary and financial advisor in the ministry of petroleum & natural gas, and held positions in Indian Oil Coproration (IOCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) before his superannuation on November 30,2017.
