Connoisseurs of Odia food will now find it easy to try their hands on typical Odia dishes. ‘My Odia Kitchen’ , a new book written by Usha Rani Tripathy, will come as a handy for those who would be interested to cook and try Odia dishes.
Usha, a house wife who has studied the traditional Odia cuisines popular in various parts of the state, has presented 60 non-vegetarian and 66 vegetarian recipes besides 12 varieties of rice preparation in the book. She has explained the species used in Odia cuisine in a separate chapter.Wife of the former Director General of Odisha Police, Amiya Bhusan Tripathy, she had stayed in various parts the state as her IPS officer husband had a transferable job.
“ With the onslaught of western food, Odia cuisines are passing into oblivion”, lamented Usha adding, “So, I tried to document the Odia dishes to preserve the most delicious food for the next generation”.
My Odia Kitchen is Usha’s second book . Her first book, A Taste of Odisha: Traditional Odia Recipes, poved to be bestsellers. Priced at Rs 400, My Odia Kitchen in paperback has been published by Bhubaneswar-based publishing house, Amaduses. The colourful cover page, in fact, drools the reader with neat pictures of dishes and species used in Odia cooking.
