Bhubaneswar: Taking the Make in Odisha campaign abroad, a high-level official team is visiting Japan and Thailand from October 30. An eight member team led by state finance minister, Sashi Bhusan Behera, would host road shows in Tokyo and Osaka cities of Japan and Bangkok in Thailand to attracted investment to the state.
Behera said that the team will talk to industrialists and businessmen of the two countries for possible investments in tourism and industry sectors in the state.
The state government in 2016 had organized two investment road shows in Mumbai and Bangaluru before hosting Make in Odisha Conclave at Bhubaneswar. While the Mumbai event was held in February 2016 during the Make in India Week of the government of India, the Bengaluru show was held during the Global Investor Summit in August. A total of 14 companies proposed investment plans worth Rs70,959 crore in Mumbi and Rs90,670 crore in Bengaluru. The state government in November 2016 had organised a roadshow in Hyderabad in collaboration with Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) ahead of the Make-in-Odisha Conclave in Bhubaneswar.
The Make in Odisha Conclave held in the month of November-December 2017 attracted Rs 2.03 lakh crore worth of investments from about 80 companies. The investment would generate employment for 1.40 lakh persons.
