Rourkela: The New Plate Mill of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has got the latest ISO 14001: 2015 certification for environment management system.
The executive director (works), Subhendra Das, unveiled the certificate in at a ceremony.
Earlier, the Plant’s Sinter Plant-II, Special Plate Plant, Hot Strip Mill, Plate Mill, Pipe Plants, Silicon Steel and Environment Engineering Department had certified ISO 14001:2004 which subsequently re-certified to the new standard.
The M/S Bureau Veritas agencies awarded the certificate to RSP after a pre-audit and an exhaustive week long certification audit of all the areas under the scope of certification. Earlier this year, the New Plate Mill had got ISO 9001:2008 QMS certification for quality management. With both quality and environment management under its belt, the New Plate Mill is all set to further strengthen its customer base. In June this year, RSP was the first unit in SAIL to get SA 8000: 2014 certification and it has also been recommended for continuation of certificate after the 1st surveillance audit. Its steel township is also the first unit in SAIL to receive the combined quality and environment certificates.
