Bhubaneswar: The union minister of state for railways, Rajen Gohain, dedicated passenger amenities works at Bhubaneswar and Sakhigopal railway stations, here on Saturday.

The second entry to Bhubaneswar railway station and station building, new booking office with reserved and unreserved ticketing system at platform-6 side were inaugurated by the minister while dedicating the new booking office at Sakhigopal station through video conferencing.  The union petroleum minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, graced the occasion.

Hailing the performance of East Coast Railway(ECoRly), Gohain said that the on-going projects under the zone would be completed as scheduled. He urged the state government to expedite the land acquisition programme for completing the projects in time. He said that the zone is planning to construct 6 mts wide foot over-bridge at Bhubaneswar and Bhadrak by the end of 2018.

New station building at PF No.6 of Bhubaneswar station has been completed recently at a cost of Rs. 1.97 crores having facilities like booking counter cum lobby, second class waiting hall, upper class waiting hall, food plaza, TCI Office, toilets for divyang passengers, pay & use toilets and circulating area with barricade.

Similarly, the new station building at Sakhigopal station has been completed at a cost of Rs. 1.55 crores having facilities like booking counter cum lobby, second class waiting hall, toilets for ladies & gents, circulating area and approach road.

Earlier, ECoRly general manager Umesh Singh highlighted the performance of the zone.  The Khurda Road divisional railway manager,Brij Mohan Agarwal, also spoke on the occasion.
