Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government’s programme in converting all kacca houses into pucca houses has attracted the attention of the nation and the state has become a model in the country.
This was revealed in a review meeting of the panchyati raj department, here on Tuesday.
With a view to convert all the houses in the state pucca houses, the state government has launched a housing programme from 2014-15 from it own fund.
The Odisha chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, who chaired the meeting, directed that at least 20 lakh pucca houses be constructed by December 2018. Till now 14,11,280 houses have been completed.
The state panchyati raj principal secretary, Deoranjan Singh, told the review meeting that on an average 1000 pucca houses are being build every day in the state. He said besides providing pucca houses, the state government is ensuring livelihood for the family by involving the beneficiaries in dairy, poultry, goatery .
The chief secretary, AP Padhi, and principal secretary to chief minister, Rajesh Verma, were present in the meeting.
