New Delhi: Odisha cadre senior IPS officer Abhay has taken charge as the director general(DG) of  Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The 1986-batch police officer was additional director general (training) of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) before taking over as the new chief of NCB. He will be in the office till November 18, 2019.

The NCB is the apex coordinating and enforcement agency in the country against drug crimes and for countering drugs abuse

Abhya had served the Odisha police as the head of crime branch and special branch. He had also served the CBI for over 7 years.
Following the DG NCB RR Bhatnagar’s posting as CRPF DG, the post was laying vacant. Special secretary in the home ministry Rina Mitra was in charge of the post since then.
