Bhubaneswar: Odisha railway sector has got an allocation of Rs 5,252 crore in the Union Budget 2018 as against the state government’s demand for a provision of Rs 6,500 crore. The state had got Rs 5102 crore in the last Budget.

The state, however, has not got any new projects in the project. Budget allocations have been made for the 36 ongoing railway projects  that are under execution. The 36 projects for 4,750 km railway line  are coming up with a total cost of  Rs 43,751 crore.

The chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, in a letter to union railway minister Piyush Goyal, had submitted a memorandum seeking budget provision of Rs 6,500 crore for the railway projects in the state for the year 2018-19.
