Bhubaneswar:The returning officer for Rajya Sabha elections in Odisha, Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, Monday said that the notification for election to three Rajya Sabha seats from Odisha, which will fall vacant in April, was issued today. According to the notification, nominations can be filed till March 12 and they would be scrutinised the next day, he added.
The date for withdrawing nominations is March 15 and polling, if required, will be held between 9 AM and 4 PM on March 23, Patil said adding, “Votes will be counted at 5 PM on the same day”.
The Rajya Sabha elections will be held to fill up three seats that will fall vacant after the tenures of BJD members AU Singhdeo and Dilip Tirkey and the party-supported Independent member A V Swami end, he added.
