Bhubaneswar: The much awaited Kalinga Nagar Manufacturing Zone (KNIMZ) will come up soon as the Odisha government Saturday decided to develop the industrial cluster over over Kalinga Nagar industrial complex at Dubri in Jajpur district.
The first meeting of the Empowered Committee on Comprehensive Development Plan ( CDP) held under chairmanship of chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, here on Saturday, approved the proposal for KNIMZ and decided that the Zone would be developed by IDCO. The CDP of KNDA covers 161 revenue villages spreading over an area of 458.78 sq. km.
The chief secretary directed the KNDA to prioritize proper planning and development of the industrial area within its jurisdiction. The KNDA in close collaboration with IDCO would develop the industrial areas with appropriate housing and social infrastructure facilities in the perspective of future developmental needs.
The meeting also decided to launch an affordable housing project over an area of 2.79 acres of land for the people living in Kalinga Nagar Development Authority (KNDA) area in Jajpur district’s Dubri. It also decided that one one rental housing complex would be constructed for construction workers.
Jajpur collector Ranjan Kumar Das said that the land for approved housing project has been identified in Upargar mauza under Vaysanaga Tahasil. The project will be developed on PPP mode and around 480 dwelling units will be allotted to economically weaker sections as per the provisions of affordable housing scheme, he added.
State forest & environment additional chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, water resources principal secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena, revenue & disaster management principal secretary Dr Chandra Sekhar Kumar,housing & urban development secretary G Mathivthanan, energy secretary Hemanta Kumar Sharma, IDCO CMD Sanjaya Singh participated in the deliberations.
