Bhubaneswar: The Odisha chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, Saturday said that Odisha Fire Service has evolved into a premier  fire fighting force in the country. With 326 operational Fire Stations  covering almost every bloc of the state and over 5600 fire  personnel, Odisha Fire Service provides  quality public services not only in fire fighting but also in responding to any emergency situation arised out of natural or man-made calamities, he added.

Patnaik, while speaking to the firemen on the occasion of Fire Safety  Week , said dedicated professional service by fire personnel has endeared them to public and brought laurels to the department. Recent drive by  the Odisha Fire Service to ensure compliance to fire safety norms in building, premises and occupancies has been commendable, he added.

The director general fire service, BK Sharma, also addressed the firemen on the occasion.

The chief minister took salute in the parade and gave away prizes to fire service personnel and felicitated retired firemen .
