Cuttack: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will inspect all small temples and the Mukti Mandap of Puri Sri Jaganath Temple for repair and restoration.
The ASI would inspect temples such as Bimala, Maha Laxmi, Nrushingha , Surjya, Pancha Mahadeva, Bata Mangala, Ganesh Temple and Satya Nrayan besides the Mukti Mandap located inside the temple premises.
A division bench of Orissa High Court comprising of chief justice Vineet Saran and justice BR Sarangi on Wednesday has directed the ASI to inspect and report within a month whether any structure need repair. The court has also asked the Sri Jaganath Temple Administration and also the Puri district administration to extend all cooperation to the ASI in the inspection exercise.
The court’s direction has come on a petition filed by one Abhisek Das. Senior advocate Ashok Mohapatra appeared for the petition in the matter.
It was on the petition of Abhisek Das, the Jagamohan (prayer hall) of the Sri Jaganth Temple was repaired.
The temple administration, though an affidavit, has appraised the court on Wednesday that the Jagamohan has been thrown open to the devotees following the repair and restoration in compliance of the court order.
