Bhubaneswar: The state government is going to solve the water logging problem of Bhubaneswar city by launching a long-term plan. The 12 natural drainage system of the city would be cleared by removing the illegal encroachments on the water systems.
The chief secretary, AP Padhi, who chaired a meetings on Thursday, said that the government restore the natural drainage systems in the city. He said the government will construct a box cell storm water drain connecting drainage channel near Acharya Vihar at a cost of Rs 5.5 crore. After construction of this box cell storm water drain, rain water will be smoothly evacuated in Acharya Vihar area. An underground drain is going to be laid to drain out rainwater from the road in front of Iskcon temple in city’s Nayapalli areas.
Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation will complete the remaining part of the box drain. While 570-metre stretch has already been completed with an investment of Rs10 crore, the remaining 377 meters would be completed with Rs 5.5 crore.
