Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government Tuesday cleared four investment proposals worth Rs 348.5 crore in pharma, textiles and metal industries. These investments will create job opportunities for about 6000 people.
The 79th State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) chaired by chief secretary AP Padhi accorded its approval to the four proposals.
The Angul Aluminium Park (AAP), first- of -its -kind in the Indian sub-continent where in molten aluminium metal will be used as raw material, got a boost with two companies got clearance for putting up their facilities. A Rajasthan-based cables company is proposing to establish a aluminium conductor manufacturing facilities with 30,000 tonnes per annum (tpa)capacity with an investment of Rs 50.30 crores. The plant will have employment potential for 130 people. Also a leading Mumbai-based manufacturer of aluminium conductors is to set up a greenfield unit of 40,000 tpa with an investment of Rs 56.30 crore having an employment potential of 200 persons.
A Kolkata-based pharma company has proposed to invest Rs64.95 crore to set up a unit for production of intravenous fluids (IVF) at Ramdaspur in Cuttack. The plant’s production capacity will be 6.36 crore bottles per annum and the project will create direct and indirect employment for 365 people. This will be the first such manufacturing unit in the pharma sector of Odisha.
The SLSWCA also cleared the proposal of a Kerala-based leading exporter of apparel which plans to invest Rs. 177 crore to set up a unit for knitting, fabric processing and garment manufacturing at Tata Steel’s SEZ at Gopalpur in Ganjam district. The project will create employment opportunities for over 5,000 people, with a majority of them being women. The proposal from the Kerela was 300th proposal received by GO-SWIFT portal of the state government.
As part of the Vision-2025, the state is working out to attract Rs 2.5 lakh crore worth of fresh investments to create job opportunities for 30 lakh people by then.
Ushering reforms in industrialisation during the last 3 years, the state has been recognized as an ‘Achiever’ in terms of Ease of Doing Business the state has scored 92.09% in Business Reforms Action Plan ranking of 2017.
Ever since, the state hosted the first Make in Odisha Conclave 2016, the state witnessed groundbreaking ceremony of 15 manufacturing units with an investment of Rs 11,690 crore with scope to generate 8,187 jobs. The second groundbreaking ceremony in June, 2018 witnessed the inauguration of 7 manufacturing units and groundbreaking of 12 units with investment of at Rs 2,675 Crore. This will create 8953 jobs. The second edition of the biennial Make in Odisha Conclave 2018 has been scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar from November 11-15 this year.
