Bhubaneswar: The chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, Monday directed the district collectors to assess the damages caused due to the flood and submit the report within a week time. He reviewed the flood situation in three districts of Kendrapada, Jajpur and Bhadrak.

Patnaik announced 7 days relief to flood affected 7 .5 lakh people  of 903 villages under 17 blocks and 4 urban areas in three districts. He  directed that all the adults be given Rs60 and children Rs 45 per day for 7 days.

The recent incessant rain caused flood like situation in the three districts. While 7.5 lakh people in villages and urban areas were inundated due to heavy rain about 40,000 people were rescued and provided with cooked food in the relief camp. Cattle feed of 90 tonnes were supplied for the affected domestic animals of the districts. The flood casued damage to about 50,000 hectares farm land in the three district.

Revenue minister Maheswar Mohanty, chief secretary AP Padhi, development comissioner R.Balakrishana, water resources principal secretary Pradip Kumar Jena, agriculture principal secretary S Garg,  special relief commissioner Bishnu Pada Sethi, and fisheries and animal resources development secretary Vishan Gagan were present in the review meeting.
